Angelina Jolie underwent IVF??

IVF is In Vitro Fertilization — meaning the couple had a lil help from doctors before getting pregnant. And Star reports (in their latest issue) that Angelina Jolie underwent the procedure. Hmm, might that be the reason why she’s having twins?? Usually, women who had IVF will have multiple gestations — twins, triplets, etc. Here’s what RadarOnline.com has to say about Angie’s alleged IVF treatment (and other preggy details):

Star says that Brad and Angie needed to undergo in vitro and that she’s craving Oreos and Doritos. Apparently, Ange told Brad by putting his hand on her stomach and announcing “We did it!” Sadly this confirms that despite award-winning performances and humanitarian missions, Brad and Angie are just as dopey as everyone else, thinking that the biology 101 of pregnancy is the world’s greatest accomplishment.

LOL! That’s so true! Parents are really mushy when they find out their pregnant =) And Angelina Jolie + Brad Pitt aren’t immune to it. They’re just humans after all..

Why in the world would Angelina go through IVF, when she had a perfectly healthy pregnancy just 2 years ago naturally? That is crazy, I never thought someone like her, who believes in adoption would use science to get pregnant. If anyone out there has been through this knows, it is an extremely unnatural and invasive procedure…..I mean a man can get pregnant this way! Also, the babies usually experience health problems and are born prematuraly…..this is not how God wanted us to get pregnant. The woman must also undergo hormone therapy months prior to the procedure…….it is so unnatural! I don’t know if I believe she did it, or what doctor would do it to her ifr she just has a baby naturally 2 years ago.

    Mirabella -
As a woman who has experienced the pain of infertility, I find your ignorant comments about IVF very disturbing. Maybe Angelina experienced secondary infertility (meaning she had the first “naturally” but had problems conceiving the second) and wanted to have another child but couldn’t do so without medical intervention. There are lots of reasons a woman can’t conceive without medical help. It’s a disease called “infertility”. It can be treated with various medical treatments including IVF.

Would you suggest that people who suffer from other diseases such as cancer be denied medical treatment also because medicine is not “natural’”? I have been through 3 IVF cycles and have a beautiful son from the 3rd one. You think God thinks any less of me and my baby b/c we had to seek medical treatment to bring him into the world?!?

BTW, your most ignorant comment was “a man can get pregnant this way”…

Mirabella, go do some reading and get yourself educated, don’t spread the poisonous ignorance around. There are millions of women in this country who can’t have children due to no fault of their own (in excess of 30%). Just because she got pregnant two years ago does not mean that she wouldn’t have any problems now or that she didn’t get help two years ago as well. And by the way, “the babies usually experience health problems and are born prematurely”, where do you get your information? Not true. Oh, and by the way, 50% of women in Hollywood (if not more like 80%) get help from science as they are more mature in age and can’t get pregnant naturally. I assume you either don’t have children or have had the fortune of not facing infertility. You will go to Heaven.

  6. Momto3, 5. July 2008, 16:15

Mirabella, you dont have all of your facts straight. The babies don’t experience more health problems and aren’t born prematurely because of IVF. Perhaps if there are multiples they might have some issues of being premature, but usually not.

You also don’t have to have hormone therapy for MONTHS! It’s usually done in 2 cycles, one month of birth control, sometimes only 2 weeks, THEN starts the meds. And just because you have a baby 2 years earlier doesn’t mean that you can’t have fertility issues!!! I had a son, and even another daughter before being labelled with secondary infertility. It took me 15 years of trying every available month to get pregnant, to have THREE children. It’s SO much more common that people believe.

  7. kelly, 13. July 2008, 16:14

you know its none of your business if or why she had ivf. She obviously loves children, many people refuse to adopt kids that arent their own, she hasnt done it just once. If people are going to bring children into this world however the pregnancy was accomplished, at least they should be able to provide for them and love them and not abuse them, her children will be loved and not on welfare. No matter the means to the pregnancy…God does see that pregnancy through…so it’s not so unnatural at all. If God didn’t want those children on earth they wouldn’t be.

It’s complete rubbish to say that “Usually, women who had IVF will have multiple gestation” - the chances of falling pregnant throgh IVF are only 1 in 4, and the chance of that being a multiple pregancy is only 1 in 3. That makes only 1 in 12 in my book! Even if they went to the best clinic where the chance of IVF working is, say 1 in 2, then the chances of twins+ would still only be 1 in 6.

mirabella you are a dumb ignorant moron and chances are were conceived “naturally”. If you are the product of a “natural” pregnancy then every woman should get IVF cause your idea of natural is twisted.

  13. John, 22. July 2008, 19:47

Mirabella i am the father of lovely twins through ivf for various reasons.your comments are sickening and you are clearly uneducated.hope you rot in hell!

  14. annie, 25. July 2008, 9:49

Mirabella is right that children born this way have problems..I know being a nanny and seeing the difference in woman conceiving naturally..everyone is entitled to their opionion..If Mirabella doesn’t agree then good for her..I can’t understand (I am sorry) the craving people have when they can’t have children..mayble instead of relying on medical intervention..change your diet and do something your self or just accept your not meant to have children..

It’s not the end of the world..after looking after children, I for one are delighted I won’t be a parent myself..

  15. just pregnanat, 26. July 2008, 19:26

Wow Mirabella, I should be worried then cuz I just got implanted last Wednesday with 2 embryos and now I know that my children will have problems because you said so. You are just ignorant and please next time you right in maybe you should get your facts straight. IVF is not easy but its the only way I can get pregnant.
Congratulations to Angelina and Brad I just hope I’m lucky enough to get through 9 months and have healthy children like them.

I wonder if she is positive for BRCA. Her mother had ovarian cancer. Maybe she was screening?

  17. kristin, 28. July 2008, 3:23

    Mirabella,

I can not believe the words you have writted regarding IVF. I have a wonderful, beautiful FULL TERM healthy baby girl through IVF. People like you are either uneducated or live with your head underground to think the things you stated. Men can get pregnant with IVF? Are you serious? You should return to high school sex ed class (that is if you even went to HS) and reread the chapter on basic human anatomy.

  18. A Sherlock, 30. July 2008, 20:34

As an infertile woman, who has been told by Drs that my only chance for pregnancy was IUI or IVF, I am happy to defend Mirabella in her previous statements. It probably did come across as harsh to those that take part in IVF, but the facts of the matter (and yes, I am a professional FertilityCare expert) remain that IVF is NOT natural conception. It is not the way God designed it. While I can understand first-hand the overwhelming desire to have a child (I suffer from primary infertility), I would urge women to explore alternative methods before submitting to the idea that “IVF is the only chance.” I guarantee that if you can get pregnant with IVF, you can get pregnant naturally with NaPro Technology. With NaPro, the underlying cause of IF is found, and fixed, making natural conception once again possible. And for us women who yearn for children so bady, why would we ever consider discarding some or most of them via IVF?
I believe the “man” to whom Mirabella referred is the woman who had a sex change and became pregnant through an IVF procedure… which is in and of itself disturbing…

The point HERE is that Brad and Angelina reportedly chose IVF NOT for infertility reasons, but rather for scheduling purposes. And I hope we would all agree that this type of procedure, which puts the women under tons of physical stress, can often result in OHSS, ovarian cysts, and other problems, AND does surpass nature’s “filter” for abnormal sperm (the cervical mucus), thus often resulting in certain abnormalities for the baby/babies (which cannot always be seen immediately, for example, many IVF children from the 70’s and 80’s are now experiencing infertility issues)- should not be entered into for such whimsical and selfish reasons. I can guarantee that no one here chose IVF as their 1st option when they decided to TTC…

All of this being said, I don’t believe Mirabella was passing any judgement on the children that result from IVF. I do realize it’s a sensitive subject, and when you poke at a wound, it will re-open… but lashing out at someone for voicing their opinions on the matter (most of which ARE based on fact), is not helpful, nor is it mature. A life is a life. Period. No life is more precious than another, just because of “how” it was conceived. But I am a firm believer that those other embryos, the ones that didn’t make the transfer in all IVFs, are also precious lives, which should not be judged. Please don’t assume that anyone who opposes IVF must never have suffered infertility. THAT would be the uneducated statement.

I am a 2 time Gestational Surrogate that became pregnant for the intended families via IVF. I can tell you that BOTH those babies (I only carried singletons) very born with no health issues Apgars at 9’s. Both Mirabellas and annies comments are rude, judgmental and uneducated. It is NO ones business how a family becomes a family and to waste your breath (fingers) spewing the negativity regarding families who utilize methods YOU clearly do not understand, agree with or approve of is just really immature. I pray to God that you will never have to undergo the pains and trials that face so many women and men.
And, Annie, a change of diet is not always the answer to medical issues. While I do agree that depending on the issue for infertility a diet change may increase your chances… it will not change the fact that there are men and women dealing with so much more than a simple diet change can fix.

My sister in law has experienced 4 miscarriages, the latest being with natural triplets. I don’t even know how to help her through this. I don’t want to be insensitive toward her feelings. We haven’t always gotten along, but Lord this infertility that she and my brother in law are dealing with is the last thing I would wish on her or anyone one else. Yes, this is secondary infertility. She does have 2 beautiful children, the youngest being just over 2 years old, and she is under 30.

  20. danielle, 9. August 2008, 17:18

Mirabella and Nanny, Obviously neither of you have problems with fertility. I had my first baby with no problem and then got pregnant with a tubular pregnancy. I lost 4 pints of blood (the body only holds 6)by bleeding internally and almost died with blood filling my lungs before I got to the hospital. The result was forced removal of half my female organs and the other half being scared beyond repair. I am strongly considering IVF. Why your comments are both hurtful and outright stupid are this. You think you know what Gods will is…consider this. I am a faithful Christian and you think God did this awful thing to me? I think not and I know inside He wants me to have more kids. So.. pretend to be an educated person and say only what you think His will is for you…not the rest of the world! Thats like saying people with Cancer aren’t right with God. Guess what, someday you will get sick with something too, are you going to blame God then??

To have conceived a healthy child and then so soon after resort to IVF after what could only have been a short apparent struggle to conceive is downright selfish, impatient and narcissistic. IVF is a wonderful science that grants mothers and fathers all over the world a blessed child. But I seriously doubt her motives and believe it comes down to the state of affairs and a world wanting things now, the faster the better. If her weight was the issue, then she should have simply taken time out to get healthy. If you are so fortunate to NOT be infertile, then you should embrace it. I agree Mirabellas comments are ignorant. But to so many who have struggled, can you honestly compare that long hard road with Angelinas?
