Variety.com reports that WANTED scored the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film released in June and the sixth best of all time for any R-rated pic! It opened at No. 2 for the weekend and played well across ethnic groups. WALL*E from Pixar was the undisputed No. 1. Universal already said it’s eyeing a sequel for WANTED. wOOt!!! More Angelina Jolie! =)

WANTED skewed slightly male at 52% and slightly younger, with 51% of the aud under age 30. It also played well to Hispanic and African-American audience. Universal originally planned to open Angelina Jolie’s latest action movie in the spring but then moved it to summer. President of domestic distribution Nikki Rocco said,

“We realized there was nothing like it in the marketplace. It was perfect timing, and we saw a great result.”

WANTED opening was the third highest ever for an R-rated action film, after “The Matrix Reloaded” ($91.7 million) and “300” ($70.9 million). Its success also paralleled the opening of Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” which opened to $50.3 million in June 2005 on its way to coming $186.3 million domestically.

And unsurprisingly, the critics praised the film and Angelina Jolie to high heavens! If you have watched the movie’s trailers, I’m sure you’d agree with me that WANTED is phenomenal =) The venerable critic over at New York Times even said that Angelina Jolie will bring the baaad boys to their knees in her new action thriller. YEAH!! Manohla Dargis wrote,

“Ms. Jolie has been perfectly cast as a super-scary, seemingly amoral assassin named (wait for it) Fox. Few American actresses, especially those with such pin-skinny arms, can make beating a guy to the ground look so easy and, yeah, man, like fun. With her mean smiley-sneer and snug clothes, her heels and hieroglyphics, she cuts the kind of disciplinarian figure who can bring antsy boys of all ages to their knees or at least into their theater seats.”

WOW!! That will certainly go a looong way in Iraq! It just proves that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s love for children is by no means limited to their own eh?? =) The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict announced last Wednesday that the $1 million is to help kids affected by the war in Iraq. The organization will distribute the donation, made through the couple’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to four charities working on behalf of children who have lost parents, homes and schools in Iraq. Children in the U.S. who have lost parents in the conflict will also benefit. Angelina Jolie said in a written statement from Education Partnership for Children of Conflict (which she co-chairs):

“These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal. We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations.”

The money will be divided between the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero Program, which provides military children with counseling and educational support; Women for Women International, which will provide books, school supplies and other basic necessities to Iraqi women and children; the International Rescue Committee, which will repair three schools and offer classes for more than 2,500 students; and NineMillion.org, which will give school uniforms and learning materials to more than 2,000 displaced Iraqi kids. Last year, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave more than $300,000 to support the International Rescue Committee’s relief program for Darfur refugees.

Yes, “the” Dr. Drew Pinsky (TV psychiatrist) who apologized to Tom Cruise for calling him a Nazi! This time, he targeted the very pregnant Angelina Jolie. In his interview with Playboy’s July issue, the controversial doctor said:

“I’m concerned with what’s really going on with Angelina Jolie. I’ve never seen someone remit heroin completely. You’re either still on heroin, Oxycontin or something else. Unless you’re dead. Is she still using something? Is she in recovery? If she’s in recovery, I don’t see any evidence of it, because people in recovery invest themselves in simple, selfless acts of service, not global self-serving acts.”

What?? No evidence of recovery? Is bagging Brad Pitt and raising four kids while making movies and giving time to charities at that NOT evidences of recovery?? Man, maybe Dr. Drew is the one on drugs! LOL! And maybe he should apologize to Angie too, arghh!

This rumor is hot! Probably because the super-famous celebrity couple and their family are living in Europe — and loving it there. According to reports, the sale of their $3.5 million home – which they bought two years ago while Brad Pitt was filming ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ – has fuelled reports the Jolie-Pitt family will settle permanently in Europe. They are currently living in a leased property in the South of France as they prepare for the birth of their twins.

Despite the French move, Brad Pitt will maintain strong links with New Orleans, which is home to his Make It Right NOLA charitable foundation. A spokesperson for Angelina Jolie and Brad, however, has denied that the couple have sold their property, saying:

“This rumour going around that they’ve sold or are selling their house in New Orleans is not true. It’s just made up, as are a lot of things that are said about them.”

The city conveyance office also did not have any record that Brangelina had sold their New Orleans home, which they bought under the name Mondo Bongo Trust.

She has not given birth to her twins yet she’s already eyeing her next acting job. According to the tabloids, Angelina Jolie is considering a role in Sin City 2 — because she is intrigued with what director FRANK MILLER can come up with next. Of course, her part would be more on action than being an exotic dancer like Jessica Alba in the first film. Angelina Jolie loved the 2004 comic book adaptation and Mr. Miller is also keen to have the actress on board for the sequel. In fact, he already has a character lined up for her and is eager for her to peruse the script. Angelina apparently said:

“I found the first Sin City impressive, but I don’t know what they’re going to do with the next one to make (it) as original as the first one. I’d be curious. I think he’s a genius.”

If ever Angie pushes through with this project and JESSICA ALBA plus BRITTANY MURPHY would still be in. Sin City 2 would be one heck of a fantasy movie for all the males out there!

Last Monday, a story circulated on the internet, claiming that Billy Bob Thornton bashed Angelina Jolie’s relationship with paramour Brad Pitt. AskMen.com quoted the “Bad Santa” star at a press launch for his new music album, saying:

“She is just going through a high school phase. You know, dating the quarterback of the football team with Brad Pitt over there. She’ll be waking up from that dream in no time.”

The actor, who was married to Angie for three years, was also quoted saying Jolie and Pitt “had nothing in common.” Billy Bob also said supposedly,

“Who knows if I’ll be there when she’s ready to come to her senses though.”

However, the quotes are all false, his rep said. Billy Bob Thornton was not responsible for claiming his ex-wife Angelina Jolie is going through “a high school phase.” The rep told Access:

“He never said it.”

Additionally, after last Monday, no article could be found with the alleged Billy Bob quotes on AskMen.com … Hmmm!

James McAvoy is certainly a very lucky man! After kissing Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Christina Ricci, he has now the distinction of kissing Angelina Jolie too! However, in an interview, it seemed the actor was more turned on having the pulp beaten out of him by the screen siren than he was during their makeout session. James McAvoy, who plays a lame accountant-turned-action hero in the action flick “Wanted“, told Pop Tarts:

“The thing I most appreciated from Angelina was that she doesn’t take herself too seriously. And she kept reminding us that if you can’t have fun when you’re making an action movie, you shouldn’t be doing it … It was much better to be bashed by Jolie. The best thing in the fight scene is to be bashed and take the hit — so much better than giving someone a punch. We had so much fun; I loved it.”

Yeah, well, different strokes for different folks eh?? =) In her sexiest action screen role to date, Angelina Jolie plays Morgan Freeman’s sidekick, Fox, whose calling in life is to kill those whose name is picked by “Fate.” And it seems James isn’t the only co-star who still can’t stop talking about the actress. Rapper/actor Common says,

“It’s rare to find people who speak the truth in this business sometimes. People say what they think you want to hear and [Jolie] wasn’t that type of person. She was very creative.”

As for Thomas Kretschmann, he found the pregnant actress inspiring. He shares,

“I wanted to be as good as Angelina, who is in, like, my opinion an expert. She just knows how to move and look cool and handle weapons. There is a certain sexiness involved, as well, which makes it very difficult.”

We all know how the 33-year old actress was very thrilled to land a role in ‘Wanted’. And guess what? Angelina Jolie wants to make more action movies in the next few years. Apparently she hopes to follow in Harrison Ford’s (the aging Indiana Jones) footsteps by filming her own stunts for years to come. Angelina Jolie told MTV:

“I was itching to do something that was physical, because I had done some emotional films and I had been at home with the kids … I think there’s always going to be a side of me that wants to make action movies, you know, for as long as I can. Harrison Ford is doing it, and he’s doing it well. It looks like I’ve got some more time.”

Aside from wanting to be like Indiana Jones, the pregnant actress also revealed to MTV that she loves “rolling around on the floor” with Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie insists shooting steamy scenes with other Hollywood hunks will never compare to being with long-term partner Brad. Awww, too sweet! =) She says,

“Well, you know Brad was… I’ll always prefer rolling around on the floor with him than any other man. You know, in general.”

Angie - who plays an assassin in new movie ‘Wanted’ - also revealed she and Brad bonded over their love of guns and often go to the shooting range together. She explained:

“I mean, obviously, there’s a part of me that takes the world of violence and death very seriously. However, when it comes to protection or when it comes to just the skill of shooting. I’ve gone to the range with sniper rifles and things like that. Brad and I both like it a lot. That is something we have in common.”
