Brangelina twins sold 2.6 million copies of PEOPLE!
According to sources close to PEOPLE mag, early sales estimates for the Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline issue is around 2.6 million copies. Yup, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s babies are already stars in their own right mere days after they were born! According to reports, the twins issue is the biggest seller in seven years, and is the fourth highest newsstand seller in the magazine’s 35-year history. It is behind the Sept. 11 issue (4.1 million single copies), the issue covering Princess Diana’s death (3 million) and the one covering the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. (2.8 million).
Meanwhile, the June 19, 2006 issue with the exclusive baby pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s first daughter, Shiloh, sold 2.2 million newsstand copies. Still a bestseller! Making celebrity babies has never been so lucrative eh?? And it’s good that the money are all going to charity ^_^ Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline’s baby photos also broke PEOPLE mag’s online search record. People.com apparently had 6 million unique visitors for the first 24 hours after the Brangelina twins cover went online. Usually, the website averages around 8.8 million unique hits a month.
