What would people do in American Idol but sing right?? =) The not-so-good news is that Angelina Jolie wasn’t with Brad Pitt when he performed for charity. It has been an American Idol tradition to “give back” every year through celebrities and former AI contestants, and I think Brad was chosen this year coz of his very laudable housing efforts in New Orleans. According to Us Weekly magazine (they spoke with someone who was in the crowd at the taping of the AI special episode), the crowd went wild when Angelina Jolie’s better half went onstage.

The source further related that American Idol floor manager Debbie McVickers stopped the show because the actor’s mic wasn’t working and was delivering no sound. Thank goodness the show wasn’t live! Glitches like this are major boo-boos! As Debbie tried to attach Brad’s mic, she joked, “I just needed a reason to touch him!” Hahaha! I wonder how Angelina Jolie will feel about that! Angelina Jolie shocked her liberal-minded Hollywood celebrity friends when she wrote a Washington Post editorial about her stand on the Iraq War. The pregnant actress made it clear that she supports the US Troops in Iraq and that she also supports their mission. And now, reports are saying that Angelina Jolie is also teaching (or is it indoctrinating?) her oldest son Maddox about her views. And according to the OK! Magazine, it seems to be working coz Maddox is making packages that will be shipped to U.S. troops overseas. A family insider tells OK! –

“He gets the other kids involved like an assembly line.”

So what does the rest of the Jolie-Pitt brood do? The source said,

“Zahara loves to glitter and sticker the cards!”

The insider says Maddox came up with this idea all on his own. He concludes that Angelina Jolie’s eldest child is “growing up to dream big and thinks even the tiniest thing can make a big difference.” Good for you Maddox! I’m sure Mama Angie and Papa Brad is very proud of you! =)

Man, that’s a LOT of money!!! According to People, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated over $8 million to charities in 2006. The hunky actor contributed $4,402,317 while the Wanted actress gave away $4,123,613. These figures are according to a newly released federal tax filing information. Brangelina’s donations include giving $1 million to both the International Division of Doctors Without Borders and to the Global AIDS Alliance.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s donations also include $137,935 to the Namibia Red Cross Action Program as part of an ongoing effort to contribute to the African country where their daughter Shiloh was born. They also donated $100,000 each to the Daniel Pearl Foundation, Global Green U.S.A. and to the Epidermolysis Bulloma Medical Research Foundation.

Angelina Jolie may be heavily pregnant, but she still took time with partner Brad Pitt to take part in charity work for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The gorgeous couple joined former president Bill Clinton for the ‘Make a difference, Make a commitment’ Campaign in New Orleans.

Angelina Jolie was wearing a hippie-inspired maxi dress while Brad helped the 600 volunteers clean up the neighbourhood devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The massive project was organized by Brad’s Make it Right Foundation aided by the Clinton Global Initiative.

We don’t usually see Angie modeling clothes or endorsing some product. So one wonders why she accepted modeling for St. John, a very upscale clothing brand. According to reports, U.N. goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie took the modeling job coz it went along with a spokesperson role. She also acts as the voice of the St. John’s charity, which was created in support of children’s issues and causes. Said Richard Cohen, chief executive officer of St. John,

“She’s a mother, actress and a philanthropist.”

Angelina Jolie signed with St. John last September 2005. At the time, she said she was excited about working with the clothing line. She said,

“I am a working mother who has set goals to accomplish a lot in this world. I want my wardrobe to be beautiful, sexy and comfortable all at the same time. St. John is all of those things.”

After visiting Iraq to boost the moral of the US troops and to see firsthand the humanitarian crisis that grips the wartorn nation, Angelina Jolie now writes all about it. The “Wanted” actress authored an opinion editor piece for the respected Washington Post, entitled “Staying to Help in Iraq.” As the title may suggest, Angelina Jolie believes the US should stay in Iraq for humanitarian purposes (no pull out of troops). It seems to me that now is the moment to address the humanitarian side of this situation. Without the right support, we could miss an opportunity to do some of the good we always stated we intended to do.

If you can remember, the first biological kid of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie was paid $4.1 million by People for their cover in the summer of 2006. The money was of, course, donated to African children’s charities. According to a People spokesman,

“Brad and Angelina are two of the biggest stars today and obviously they sell whatever they do. Everyone is interested in their life.”

Even the magazine cover featuring Shiloh’s adopted brother Pax got $2 million! That’s more than what Christina Aguilera’s baby got or even Gwen Stefani’s Kingston. Just imagine how much the next Brangelina baby would get! That is, if there’s truth to the rumors that Angelina Jolie is indeed pregnant again. OK! magazine’s deputy editor Katie Caperton said,

“I can’t even put a number on it. That’s huge. The fascination that people have with Brad and Angelina and that family is priceless.”

The award-winning gorgeous actress went to Iraq last February 7 to boost what she sees as lagging efforts to deal with the problems of 2 million “very very vulnerable” internally displaced people in the STILL war-torn country. Angelina Jolie told CNN’s Arwa Damon last Thursday in an exclusive interview,

“There doesn’t seem to be a real coherent plan to help them. There’s lots of goodwill. Lots of discussion, but there seems to be a lot of talk at the moment, and a lot of pieces that need to be put together. I’m trying to figure out what they are.”

And I literally mean crushed! No thanks to Brangelina’s fan horde in the Santa Barbara Film Festival. According to reports, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie helped Seth Mascareno, an eight-year-old boy who was being crushed by autograph hunters at the said festival. Seth was trapped under a crowd greeting the couple as they arrived at the festival where Angelina Jolie was being honoured with the Performance of the Year award. Brangelina saw the kid in trouble and lifted him to safety. The Seth’s mother said,

“The crush of people was just overwhelming. Jolie and Pitt rushed over and she helped pull Seth under the barricade while Pitt yelled for the crowd to back up. Then Jolie took Seth aside to make sure he was unharmed. When she was sure he was all right, she signed a Tomb Raider photo he was carrying. She stroked Seth’s hair and said, “There, there sweetheart, you’re okay now.”

Aww, Angie is such a sweetie and a do-gooder! Brad too, of course! LOL =)
