How’s that for cool?? A female star to replace an actor in an action movie!! You’ve definitely come a long way Angelina Jolie! According to reports, “Edwin A. Salt”, an espionage thriller once set to star Tom Cruise will now be redrafted by screenwriter Kurt Wimmer to suit Angie. The A-list actor had long been rumored to take the project but eventually bowed out because (reportedly) a $20 million salary wasn’t possible. The film will reunite Angelina Jolie with her “Bone Collector” director, Philip Noyce.

The mother of 6 is set to play the title character, a CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and must elude capture long enough to establish her innocence. After Tom bowed out, several actors made a beeline for it, but it when Angelina Jolie took a liking to it, Columbia Pictures decided to rewrite the script for a female lead. Variety writes,

“she is the rare female who is viable in the action genre, which has been almost the exclusive domain of men.”

SO TRUE!! If you remember, Universal marketed “Wanted” mostly on Angie’s shoulders and watched it gross $132 million domestically. If she will really star in “Edwin A. Salt”, she’ll definitely be one of the toughest yet sexy hot mommas around! Go Angie! ^_^

That would certainly add a WOW and SEXY factor to the Batman series if you know what I mean! And it would be perfect too since Bruce Wayne’s ladylove was killed (oops, spoiler!) so he needs a new love interest in the next installment. Contactmusic.com reports that Angelina Jolie has been tipped to play Catwoman by the actress who made the role famous, Julie Newmar. She appeared in the 1960s Batman television series and has recently revealed she would love Angelina Jolie to take on the role - that is, if The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan will resurrect the catty character in a future sequel. Julie shared to the New York Daily New:

“Angelina would own the part. My industry friends tell me (she) has made inquiries about the role. I can understand how it would pique her interest. Catwoman is Batman’s one true love. She’s tremendously popular with women because she’s both a heroine and a villainess.”

Other actresses who took on the Catwoman role were Eartha Kitt, Lee Meriwether, Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer. Will Angelina Jolie be next?? Stay tuned! =)

I wonder what Brad Pitt has to say about that! Hehe! Reports are rife that the divorced couple, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton are planning to reunite for a comedy movie together. The former couple are currently searching for a suitable script in which they will co-star. Angie and Billy Bob first met on the set of their 1999 movie ‘Pushing Tin’ and were married for three years before divorcing in 2003. The actor recently told Maxim magazine that both of them were keen to work together again as long as he and Angelina are not cast as husband and wife. Bully Bob Thornton shared,

“We’ve talked about it plenty of times. I’m sure we will. We want to be really careful that we pick the right one. Maybe a comedy. In other words, we wouldn’t want to do another movie about a husband-wife relationship. That probably wouldn’t be very good.”

Yesiree!! The first natural child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will soon be a movie star! According to reports, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt will make her big screen debut in her father’s new film. The blonde two-year-old will be seen with Brad in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. In the trailer of the movie, Angie’s hot hubby is seen cradling Shiloh as she watches a balloon float away. Cute! =) “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” tells the tale of a man who starts ageing backwards with bizarre consequences. It is scheduled for January 2009 release. Yikes, that one year from now! By then Shiloh will be about 3 years old >.<

Variety.com reports that WANTED scored the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film released in June and the sixth best of all time for any R-rated pic! It opened at No. 2 for the weekend and played well across ethnic groups. WALL*E from Pixar was the undisputed No. 1. Universal already said it’s eyeing a sequel for WANTED. wOOt!!! More Angelina Jolie! =)

WANTED skewed slightly male at 52% and slightly younger, with 51% of the aud under age 30. It also played well to Hispanic and African-American audience. Universal originally planned to open Angelina Jolie’s latest action movie in the spring but then moved it to summer. President of domestic distribution Nikki Rocco said,

“We realized there was nothing like it in the marketplace. It was perfect timing, and we saw a great result.”

WANTED opening was the third highest ever for an R-rated action film, after “The Matrix Reloaded” ($91.7 million) and “300” ($70.9 million). Its success also paralleled the opening of Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” which opened to $50.3 million in June 2005 on its way to coming $186.3 million domestically.

And unsurprisingly, the critics praised the film and Angelina Jolie to high heavens! If you have watched the movie’s trailers, I’m sure you’d agree with me that WANTED is phenomenal =) The venerable critic over at New York Times even said that Angelina Jolie will bring the baaad boys to their knees in her new action thriller. YEAH!! Manohla Dargis wrote,

“Ms. Jolie has been perfectly cast as a super-scary, seemingly amoral assassin named (wait for it) Fox. Few American actresses, especially those with such pin-skinny arms, can make beating a guy to the ground look so easy and, yeah, man, like fun. With her mean smiley-sneer and snug clothes, her heels and hieroglyphics, she cuts the kind of disciplinarian figure who can bring antsy boys of all ages to their knees or at least into their theater seats.”

She has not given birth to her twins yet she’s already eyeing her next acting job. According to the tabloids, Angelina Jolie is considering a role in Sin City 2 — because she is intrigued with what director FRANK MILLER can come up with next. Of course, her part would be more on action than being an exotic dancer like Jessica Alba in the first film. Angelina Jolie loved the 2004 comic book adaptation and Mr. Miller is also keen to have the actress on board for the sequel. In fact, he already has a character lined up for her and is eager for her to peruse the script. Angelina apparently said:

“I found the first Sin City impressive, but I don’t know what they’re going to do with the next one to make (it) as original as the first one. I’d be curious. I think he’s a genius.”

If ever Angie pushes through with this project and JESSICA ALBA plus BRITTANY MURPHY would still be in. Sin City 2 would be one heck of a fantasy movie for all the males out there!

James McAvoy is certainly a very lucky man! After kissing Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Christina Ricci, he has now the distinction of kissing Angelina Jolie too! However, in an interview, it seemed the actor was more turned on having the pulp beaten out of him by the screen siren than he was during their makeout session. James McAvoy, who plays a lame accountant-turned-action hero in the action flick “Wanted“, told Pop Tarts:

“The thing I most appreciated from Angelina was that she doesn’t take herself too seriously. And she kept reminding us that if you can’t have fun when you’re making an action movie, you shouldn’t be doing it … It was much better to be bashed by Jolie. The best thing in the fight scene is to be bashed and take the hit — so much better than giving someone a punch. We had so much fun; I loved it.”

Yeah, well, different strokes for different folks eh?? =) In her sexiest action screen role to date, Angelina Jolie plays Morgan Freeman’s sidekick, Fox, whose calling in life is to kill those whose name is picked by “Fate.” And it seems James isn’t the only co-star who still can’t stop talking about the actress. Rapper/actor Common says,

“It’s rare to find people who speak the truth in this business sometimes. People say what they think you want to hear and [Jolie] wasn’t that type of person. She was very creative.”

As for Thomas Kretschmann, he found the pregnant actress inspiring. He shares,

“I wanted to be as good as Angelina, who is in, like, my opinion an expert. She just knows how to move and look cool and handle weapons. There is a certain sexiness involved, as well, which makes it very difficult.”

We all know how the 33-year old actress was very thrilled to land a role in ‘Wanted’. And guess what? Angelina Jolie wants to make more action movies in the next few years. Apparently she hopes to follow in Harrison Ford’s (the aging Indiana Jones) footsteps by filming her own stunts for years to come. Angelina Jolie told MTV:

“I was itching to do something that was physical, because I had done some emotional films and I had been at home with the kids … I think there’s always going to be a side of me that wants to make action movies, you know, for as long as I can. Harrison Ford is doing it, and he’s doing it well. It looks like I’ve got some more time.”

Aside from wanting to be like Indiana Jones, the pregnant actress also revealed to MTV that she loves “rolling around on the floor” with Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie insists shooting steamy scenes with other Hollywood hunks will never compare to being with long-term partner Brad. Awww, too sweet! =) She says,

“Well, you know Brad was… I’ll always prefer rolling around on the floor with him than any other man. You know, in general.”

Angie - who plays an assassin in new movie ‘Wanted’ - also revealed she and Brad bonded over their love of guns and often go to the shooting range together. She explained:

“I mean, obviously, there’s a part of me that takes the world of violence and death very seriously. However, when it comes to protection or when it comes to just the skill of shooting. I’ve gone to the range with sniper rifles and things like that. Brad and I both like it a lot. That is something we have in common.”
